We as an M&E consultant engineer will recommend different types of air conditioning systems depending on the applications, budget available and future operation cost. The most commonly used air conditioning units is split air conditioners as the initial cost is the cheapest among all type of air conditioner.

Below are the various type of the air conditioning systems:
1) Window air conditioner:

All the components of this type of air conditioner (i.e. compressor, evaporator, and condenser) are enclosed in a box. This type of air conditioner now is slowly replaced by the split unit air conditioner because of window type required to open a slot size of the window type box dimension.
2) Split air conditioner:

Split unit air conditioner is split into two parts: Outdoor unit and indoor unit compare to window type which all the component under one unit. The outdoor unit are installed at outside of the room or house, it consist of compressor, condenser and the expansion valve. The indoor unit is consisting of the cooling coil and the blower fan. Both of the outdoor and indoor units are connected by refrigerant piping which convey the cooled refrigerant from the outdoor unit into the indoor unit.
3) Packaged air conditioner:

This type of air conditioning system allow you to cool more than one room or space with one unit of outdoor unit, in other word mean multi indoor unit linked to one unit of outdoor unit. The packaged air conditioner usually used for the large area of house or office.
4) Central air conditioning system:

The central air conditioning system ( chiller air conditioning system) is used for cooling the big building, hotel, cinema, houses, factory, hall and etc. The initial cost or installation cost for this type of air conditioning is the highest among all type of air conditioning system. However, in term of the long run the operation cost is much cheaper compare to other. Most of the client don’t like to use this type of air conditioning system as it every expensive, the rather use packaged air conditioning unless no choice eve thought that they know operation cost is much cheaper.
